EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES EMERGENCY MEDICAL SERVICES PROGRAM OVERVIEW Students will be able to perform the skills needed in a time of emergency that could save someone’s life. During the fall semester, students will perform skills such as airway management, splinting of fractured bones, actions to take in a respiratory emergency, adult, child and infant CPR, and vital signs. During the spring semester, students will continue to add to their skill set in emergency first aid, analyzing different types of emergency situations, transporting patients, etc. Students will gain leadership skills developed through HOSA participation. Upon successful completion of the EMT class, students may be qualified to take the EMT national registry certification exam. To obtain the necessary clinical hours and patient contact, students must provide their own transportation to clinical sites. Clinic hours may be obtained weekday evenings or on the weekend, therefore, parents may provide that transportation, if necessary. CRIMINAL JUSTICE CRIMINAL JUSTICE PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Criminal Justice Pathway - Criminal Justice I & II is designed to provide the knowledge and skills necessary to enter the criminal justice field. Students will study the basic fundamentals of the criminal justice system and how they apply in today’s society. The program consists of hands-on activities while addressing the principles of Criminal Justice. This program covers the purposes, functions, and history of the three primary parts of the criminal justice system: law enforcement, courts, and corrections. AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES AUTOMOTIVE SERVICES PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Automotive Service I pathway course provides a comprehensive introduction to automotive maintenance, electrical systems, brake systems, and steering and suspension. Students will learn to safely operate industry-standard tools and equipment while gaining hands-on experience in diagnosing and repairing modern vehicle systems. Topics include fundamental electrical concepts, braking system theory and repair, driveline service, and steering and suspension diagnostics. The Automotive Service II pathway builds on skills in the Automotive Service Technology Pathway, focusing on vehicle electrical systems, engine repair, climate control, and driveline service. Students will gain hands-on experience with diagnostics and repair, with opportunities for Co-Op and internships to enhance real-world learning. AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPIAR AUTOMOTIVE COLLISION REPAIR PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Automotive Collision Repair I Pathway provides a comprehensive introduction to automotive collision repair, covering vehicle operating systems, electrical components, and basic maintenance. Students will learn industry safety standards, tool operation, and repair techniques for steel, aluminum, and plastic components. Key skills include dent repair, welding methods, panel installation, and sheet metal analysis. Additionally, students will gain hands-on experience in painting fundamentals, including surface preparation, priming, and spray techniques. Successful completion prepares students for careers in collision repair and refinishing. The Automotive Collision Repair II Pathway builds on skills from the Automotive Body Technology Pathway, focusing on automotive painting, collision damage appraisal, and fiberglass and plastic repair. AVIATION MANAGEMENT AVIATION MANAGEMENT PROGRAM OVERVIEW The Aviation Management Pathway program provides the student the opportunity to develop an understanding of various aspects of the aviation industry to include general regulations and laws associated with the field. Included is an overview of the aviation field and employment opportunities. Second year students will build on their skills from the Aviation Management Pathway, focusing on general aviation operations, including the operation and management of the Fixed Base Operation (FBO). Emphasis will be placed on financial and operational considerations as well as on regulatory requirements and constraints. PRE-NURSING: (CCMA) PRE-NURSING CCMA PROGRAM OVERVIEW The CNA Capstone Program provides advanced training in both patient care and clinical procedures commonly performed by Medical Assistants. Students will deepen their understanding of human anatomy, triage protocols, and office-based skills such as taking vital signs, performing venipuncture, ECGs, urinalysis, prescription writing, and dosage calculations. The course also covers Medical Law and Ethics, electronic health records, and behavioral health. Students may earn multiple certifications, including CCMA, CPR, HIPAA, FEMA, NHA CCMA, and Bloodborne Pathogens. IT OPERATIONS IT OPERATIONS PROGRAM OVERVIEW Information Technology Pathway Program provides students with the opportunity to investigate emerging disciplines within the field of computer science and careers in IT in and near Hancock County. Areas of study will include exploring how computers can be used in a wide variety of settings. Students will utilize knowledge related to programming, game design, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, networking, hardware, virtualization, and cloud computing to develop solutions to authentic problems including coding applications, working in an IT department, and solving technical issues for clients. PRE-NURSING: (CNA) PRE-NURSING CNA PROGRAM OVERVIEW Pre-Nursing Healthcare Specialist - CNA Pathway Program is a nursing certificate program that takes two semesters to complete. The program teaches students basic nursing skills, resident care, and provides practical experiences with residents. Practical resident care procedures taught include: vital signs, bathing, toileting, dressing/feeding residents and bed making. The students will learn 72 basic nursing skills/resident care procedures. DENTAL CAREERS DENTAL CAREERS PROGRAM OVERVIEW This program introduces students to the field of dentistry through the perspectives of a dentist, dental hygienist, dental assistant, and lab technician. Emphasis is placed on clinical and laboratory environments, equipment and instrument identification, oral anatomy, and sterilization techniques. Additional Coursework Dental Careers Capstone will provide the opportunity for increased skill development in clinical support through work-based learning experiences. Students will also prepare for the Radiation, Health and Safety which is third and final part of the NELDA certification. The capstone course may also provide the opportunity to review and prepare for the entire NELDA certification.
